If Citra could set an example of scenic respect. I’m not sure my membership could do much.

I respect our pastoral farmland community, and the litter that has increased over years should not have become such widespread nuisance.

I see open pick up truck beds heaped with loose, Unsecured trash. Not just parked on property, they are making stops in travel and it is evident how any loose trash is carried by fast wind.
I would like Citra to set precedent and have open bed pick ups traveling with trash regarded as an offense. Potentially would seek increased MCSO support to write fines.

My negative feedback would be the traffic and rapid developments which become rather frustrating anywhere to look and be surprised by
complete makeovers of customary stability.

 

Massive misuse of land and water for entertainment.  E.g margaritaville enterprising.

I'm not a ppl person by any stretch nor am I crafty and I hate to cook. I would be no use to the group.

 

I will go to county meetings, as I think the growth here is out of control. Lots of south Fla ppl fleeing Miami and Tampa for here. The intersection by the new dollar general is a nightmare and getting onto 318 frm 301 without an arrow is next to impossible.

Our family isn't indigent. As a younger family with children, we chose to make Citra our home. We wanted to be able to teach our children the values of raising our own livestock and food while enjoying everything nature has to offer. We knew that for certain things, we would have to drive 30 + miles one way. Its been worth it.

Moving to Citra was one of the best things we ever did for our family. We feel closer to God surrounded by what he created for us instead of the man made concrete jungles and cramped city living with dangerous horrible traffic.

Hearing people complain about their children having nothing to do out here in Citra drives me mad!!! They must be extremely lazy parents with no imagination! Far more things to do outside here than in a city. They should have thought about that before they decided to move here with their children.

We like the small town feel of living in Citra compared to living in the city. Neighbors are further away, but we know more people, and we help each other. We barely knew anyone in our neighborhood in the city except the nosey old bitties.

We both work, so I am not sure we could do much to help the community.

It would be nice to see the buildings in the central part of town get a face-lift. Something as simple as painting them? Maybe some flowers or flowering plants to replace the weedy spaces?

Several of us are starting to feel like Ocala is trying to squeeze out our way of living in the country.

 

Talk about improving Citra? If you mean chain stores and fast foods or big businesses along with developing farmland into overcrowded neighborhoods, that's destruction in our opinion, and the only ones making money are the investors. Clean it up, and only allow mom and pop businesses. Save our trees and wide open spaces and Keep the concrete away!

Hmm, building and strengthening the community...
How about having a monthly farm animal swap, trade, sell, auction? We have to drive over 2 hours with our poultry and livestock to sell at auction. Animals have to be there at 12 noon. Auction doesn't start until 8ish. Then, depending on how many animals are being auctioned, you have to wait until yours are sold to get your crates back before you can leave.

It would be nice to see the old meat market painted and put to good use. Maybe a mural depicting Citra history ?

We don't know anything about an Improvement Society group. We have heard about someone wanting donations to restore an old building somewhere but with very little progress over many years.
Thank you for the website about the group. We'll look it up.

Maybe we would attend the meetings if they were held on a Saturday so the kids could play outside during the meeting. We work during the week.
